Water Leak Repair

Find and fix hidden leaks before they damage your home

Catching Leaks Early Saves Thousands

Water damages a house quicker than most homeowners imagine. A slow leak can silently rot framing, encourage black mold, drive utility bills up, and cause structural damage that's invisible until you sell or remodel and discover problems hidden in walls, floors, or the foundation.

That mysteriously high water bill, the spot of damp drywall, the sound of running water when nothing's on — these are all signs of a leak. Stollwerck Plumbing & Sewer pinpoints the problem with leak-detection equipment and fixes it before it turns into major water damage.

Common signs of a hidden leak:

  • A hissing sound near a wall or in the crawl space
  • Bubbled or sagging paint on walls or ceilings
  • A chronically damp rag under a sink, washing machine, or dishwasher
  • A water bill that's mysteriously higher than usual
  • Mold, musty smells, or warped flooring in unexpected places
  • Pools of water appearing in the yard with no obvious source
  • A new mud bog or sunken patch where the water service line runs

What causes water leaks?

  • Pipe material degrading over time (especially older galvanized and copper)
  • Punctures or ruptures, often during remodel work or from frozen-pipe events
  • Faulty or incorrectly installed joints from a prior repair
  • Foundation settling, earth shifting, or seismic movement around the line
  • Invasive tree roots, particularly around exterior water lines

We handle everything from a leaky valve under the sink to a main water service line break under the front yard. Our licensed plumbers locate the leak, walk you through the repair options, and fix it with minimal mess and disruption.

Live in a condo or townhome? An unaddressed leak in a shared wall can damage adjacent units too — getting it diagnosed quickly protects more than just your space. We work with property management companies and damage-remediation contractors when needed.

Active leak right now? Shut off your main water valve (usually in your garage or near your meter) and call us at 425-374-3909. If the leak appears to be on the line between the meter and your house, contact your water utility too — they sometimes pro-rate the affected billing cycle.

Where Water Leaks Show Up

Water travels along framing, joists, and the slab — so the place a leak shows up is rarely where the leak actually is. Here's where we look first:

Under the Kitchen Sink

Kitchens have sinks, dishwashers, ice-makers, pot-fillers, and disposal lines — any of which can develop a slow drip. Mushy or discolored flooring near the cabinet is a classic early sign.

Bathrooms (Especially Upstairs)

Tile, marble, fiberglass, and vinyl all hide and divert water — so a bathroom leak often shows up as a stain on the ceiling of the room below before you notice it in the bathroom itself.

Basement & Crawl Space

A musty basement smell, staining or mold on drywall, or dampness wicking up from the floor often points to a water line in the slab or behind the wall. Listen for hissing in the crawl space.

Yard & Main Water Service Line

A sudden water-bill spike or a new mud bog where the service line runs from the meter to the house often means the underground main has failed. Shut off the house valve, watch the meter — if it's still spinning, the leak is between the meter and your shut-off.

How We Find & Fix Hidden Leaks

Pinpoint Detection — No Guesswork

Our team combines “water whisperer” experience with modern equipment: acoustic and electronic detection, video camera inspection of supply and drain lines, and smoke testing where it's the right tool. The goal is always the same — find the leak with the least demolition possible, then open the wall, ceiling, or floor cleanly only where we have to.

Spot Repair vs. Re-Lining vs. Replacement

Some leaks are a single isolated failure — we expose the section, repair it, pressure-test, and you're back in service. Pipes in worse shape may benefit from BlueLight LED pipe re-lining: a liner is pulled into the existing pipe, cured in place, and the line is back in action in a matter of hours — no full excavation. When a line is past saving, we replace it with PEX or copper to current code.

Main Water Service Line — Less Yard, Less Mess

For underground water service lines from the meter to the house, we use directional boring where possible — a clean path is bored underground and the new line is pulled through with minimal landscaping disturbance. Where trenching is the right call, we shore the trench properly, locate existing utilities first, and leave the yard in rake-finish condition.

Coordination With Other Trades

When water damage has already happened, we coordinate with damage-remediation contractors for drying, demo, and rebuild. For exterior leaks, we partner with leak-detection specialists when their equipment is the better tool for the job. You get one point of contact while the work gets done right.
