Gas Line Services

Installation, repair, and leak detection by licensed plumbers

Gas Work Done Right

Ready to make the leap to endless hot water with a tankless water heater? Remodeling your kitchen and moving the gas range or fireplace? Planning an outdoor fire pit, patio heater, or BBQ station? Or noticing corroded lines, an appliance that won't stay lit, or worse — a faint smell of gas? Stollwerck Plumbing & Sewer handles all of it.

Gas lines aren't a DIY job. Natural gas plumbing is a mechanical system that needs to be designed, installed, and maintained by a licensed professional. That means code-compliant materials, the right pipe sizing for the load, a pressure and leak test before the line goes into service, safety valves in the correct locations, and proper venting for combustion exhaust.

Whether you're running a new line for a tankless water heater, hooking up a gas range, extending to an outdoor BBQ, or chasing down a suspected leak, our commercially licensed team has 20+ years of experience doing it safely across the Greater Mukilteo / Everett area.

Smell gas now? Leave the building, call your gas utility from outside, then call us at 425-374-3909. We respond fast across Snohomish County and Whidbey Island.

Common Reasons to Call a Gas Line Plumber

Gas plumbing is one of the few systems in your home where small problems become big problems quickly. If any of these sound familiar, it's time for a licensed inspection.

Foundation Settling

When a home shifts, gas lines can stress, bend, or pull apart at joints. If you’ve had foundation work or noticed cracks, schedule an inspection.

Visible Corrosion

Pacific Northwest moisture is hard on metal. Corroded lines are a leak waiting to happen — replace them before they fail.

Appliance Won’t Stay Lit

A pilot that won’t stay lit, a burner that flickers, or a furnace that short-cycles can all point to gas pressure or supply problems.

Aging Lines

Older homes often have undersized or outdated gas piping. Upgrading to current code makes the system safer and ready for new appliances.

Adding or Moving Appliances

Tankless water heater, kitchen remodel, new gas dryer, outdoor BBQ — every new appliance needs the right line size and a code-compliant connection.

Increased Commercial Load

Restaurants and shops adding equipment over the years often outgrow the original gas supply. Aging commercial lines need professional review.

What Goes Into a Code-Compliant Gas Line

Professional gas line installation isn't just connecting two ends of pipe. Here's what a properly installed line includes — and why it matters in the Pacific Northwest:

Seismic-Aware Installation

Western Washington is a seismically active region. We install gas lines with the support, flex, and shut-off valving required so a future earthquake doesn't turn a routine line into a hazard.

Correct Pipe Sizing

Each appliance has a minimum gas-supply requirement. We calculate the BTU load for every fixture on the line and size the pipe so every appliance gets sufficient gas pressure for proper operation.

Pressure & Leak Testing

Every new or repaired line is pressure-tested before it goes back into service. The line holds test pressure for the required interval; if it doesn't, we find and fix the issue before turning the gas back on.

Code-Compliant Venting

Burning natural gas produces water vapor and carbon dioxide, plus small amounts of carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide. Every gas appliance — indoor or outdoor — needs the right combustion-air supply and exhaust venting routed to a safe exit point. We get the venting right.

Protected, Marked, and Permitted

Indoor and outdoor lines are routed in protected, secure paths and properly painted and labeled per code. We pull the permit and walk it through final inspection — you don't lift a finger.

If You Smell Gas — What to Do

A gas leak is a true emergency. Follow this 5-step protocol every time:

  1. 1

    Evacuate immediately

Get everyone — and pets — out of the building right away.

  2. 2

    Don’t flip a switch

Don’t turn lights, appliances, fans, or your phone’s flashlight on or off. Any spark is a hazard. Leave them as they are.

  3. 3

    Call PSE from outside

From a safe distance, call your gas utility (Puget Sound Energy: 1-888-225-5773) so they can shut the gas at the meter.

  4. 4

    Ventilate once it’s safe

Once everyone is out and the utility is on its way, open windows and doors from the outside if it’s safe to do so.

  5. 5

    Call us for repair

Once the gas is shut off, call Stollwerck at 425-374-3909. We’ll diagnose the leak, repair it to code, and pressure-test the line before it goes back into service.

Never try to find or fix a gas leak yourself. The risk of explosion or asphyxiation is real.
