Sewer Line Repair Services
Diagnose, repair, and replace — with camera-scope precision
Know Before You Dig
Your sewer line is the conduit moving wastewater away from your home into the municipal sewer for treatment. Keeping that line healthy prevents three serious problems: backups inside the home, waterborne contamination affecting neighbors, and dangerous buildup of sewer gases inside the structure.
Sewer problems are messy, expensive, and easy to misdiagnose. Stollwerck's licensed plumbers use in-line camera inspections to find exactly what's wrong with your sewer — and recommend the right fix, not the most expensive one.
Whether it's tree roots, an offset joint, a belly in the line, or a complete pipe failure, we have the equipment to handle it — including modern trenchless options like cured-in-place pipe re-lining and pipe bursting. We walk you through the camera footage, explain what we're seeing, and give you an honest cost for repair or replacement.
Buying a home in Snohomish County or on Whidbey? A pre-purchase sewer scope is one of the smartest inspections you can do — a small fee that can save tens of thousands or save you from buying the wrong house entirely. Standard home inspections don't scope the sewer; we do.
Older properties sometimes share a sewer line with neighbors before reaching the city main. A scope can identify whether your line is shared and where the property-line transitions are — important for scoping repairs and avoiding shared-cost surprises later.

What We Offer
Sewer Line Repair
Pinpoint and fix breaks, root intrusion, bellies, and offsets in your sewer line.
Trenchless Pipe Re-lining (CIPP)
Cured-in-place pipe re-lining with UV-cured resins — back in service in a couple of hours, no trench required.
Pipe Bursting
Trenchless replacement: one pass through the line breaks apart the old pipe and pulls new pipe in behind it.
Sewer Line Replacement
Full replacement when repair isn't enough — trenched or trenchless options available.
Sewer Camera Scope
In-line camera inspection lets us see exactly what's happening inside your sewer pipe.
Cleanout Installation
A properly installed two-way cleanout makes future drain cleaning and scoping fast and clean — no pulled toilets.
Root Removal & Hydro Jetting
Mechanical augers and high-pressure hydro jetting clear tree roots and grease buildup from main lines.
Pre-Purchase Sewer Inspection
Buying a home? Scope the sewer before you close. It's a small fee that can save tens of thousands.
Emergency Sewer Service
Sewer backup? We respond fast across Snohomish County and Whidbey Island — residential, multi-unit, and commercial.
Common Issues a Sewer Scope Reveals
Root Intrusion
By far the most common problem we find in residential lines. Tree roots find the smallest gap and grow into a full blockage.
Bellies
Sagging sections of pipe that hold standing water. Waste settles in the belly and causes recurring backups.
Offset Joints
Pipe segments that have shifted out of alignment, often due to ground settlement. Catches debris and grows clogs.
Cracks & Partial Collapses
Hairline cracks let water and roots in; partial collapses restrict flow. Both usually grow worse over time.
Full Pipe Failure
More common in older clay or cast-iron lines. Usually means a section needs to be replaced.
Foreign Objects
Toys, jewelry, "flushable" wipes, paper towels — we've pulled all of it out of sewer lines.
From Spot Repair to Full Replacement — Choosing the Right Fix
The camera tells us what's wrong; the next question is which repair method matches the damage. The right method saves you money, time, and yard.
Spot / Section Repair
For an isolated failure — a single root crack, a partial collapse — we expose just that section, replace the damaged pipe, and backfill. The least invasive option when only one part of the line has failed.
Trenchless Pipe Re-lining (CIPP)
When the existing pipe is structurally sufficient but riddled with cracks, root intrusion, or joint problems, cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) re-lining is often the right call. A flexible liner is pulled through the existing pipe, expanded into place, and cured. Older epoxy systems took 30+ hours to cure; today’s UV-cured resins put the line back in service in a couple of hours — with no trench to dig.
Pipe Bursting
When a section is fully degraded and re-lining isn’t enough, pipe bursting is a trenchless replacement option. A bursting head is pulled through the old pipe, breaking it apart while pulling new pipe in behind it — old pipe out and new pipe in, one pass.
Full Trenched Replacement
Some lines are too compromised, too misaligned, or too disconnected for any trenchless method. We trench, replace the line, and backfill carefully — landscaping returned to rake-finish condition with shoring per code.
Warning Signs & Maintenance
Sewer problems rarely show up out of nowhere — there are usually warning signs first. The earlier we catch them, the more options you have for repair.
Signs your sewer line needs attention:
- Multiple drains slow at once — toilet, sink, and tub all sluggish
- Recurring backups even after a snake-out
- Sewer-smell odor near plumbing fixtures or in the yard
- Gurgling drains as air surfaces through standing water in the line
- An unusually green or lush patch of lawn directly above the sewer line route
- Soggy or sunken patches in the yard along the sewer path
- Water backing up from a basement floor drain when an upstairs fixture runs
Cleanouts: Why a Two-Way Cleanout Matters
A properly installed two-way cleanout is the best access point for drain-cleaning tools and camera scoping. If your home doesn't have one, the alternatives are pulling a toilet or running tools down the roof vent stack — both of which add fees and mess. We install two-way cleanouts during repair work, or as a stand-alone preventative service.
Other Sewer Services
Beyond repair and replacement, we offer hydro-jetting for stubborn lines, grease-trap cleaning for restaurants and commercial kitchens, sewer pump servicing, video inspections, and sewer-gas smoke testing to locate breaks. Multi-unit residential and commercial property managers across Snohomish County rely on Stollwerck for routine and emergency sewer work.
